Press Release | 7th December 2020
Minister of State and Fianna Fáil TD, Anne Rabbitte, has confirmed today the allocation of over €1.3 million for 18 primary and post-primary schools across Galway under the 2021 Summer Works Scheme.
A total of 15 primary schools and 3 post-primary schools have secured funding for toilet facilities and roof works, totaling €1,381,749, which is being funded by the Department of Education.
Minister Rabbitte commented:
It’s great to see the various schools across Galway secure this funding for next summer. Schools have had to adapt this year more so than any other year due to Covid-19. They’ve had to introduce changes and adaptations to ensure children could continue to attend school, and we all appreciate the work and dedication of all school staff in ensuring this.
Minister Rabbitte continued:
I know such investment will be greatly welcomed by the schools. This will allow for more permanent works to be carried out, ensuring further operational stability for schools and allowing some breathing room, I’m sure.
The earlier announcement of the projects this year allows schools time for planning and making arrangements for the work, instead of rushing at the last minute to get the projects complete. The Department of Education will be in touch with the successful schools to detail the next steps.
