Seanad Éireann
Senator Anne RabbitteAbout
Core to leadership is the ability to relate to people—to empathize, understand, inspire, and motivate.
Baby steps and leaps of faith have shaped my journey, leading me to where I am today—proud to now serve as Senator Anne Rabbitte in Seanad Éireann after being first elected to the Dáil in 2016 and re-elected in 2020.
Before stepping into politics, I spent 25 years in the financial sector, gaining valuable experience in management, leadership, and problem-solving.
From leading interdisciplinary teams to navigating complex challenges, my career has always been driven by a simple yet powerful purpose: finding solutions that make a real difference.
No matter the role—TD, Minister of State, or now Senator—I believe in collaboration, continuous learning, and creative problem-solving.
I’m passionate about breaking down barriers, championing fairness, and ensuring that policies work for the people they’re meant to serve.
There’s no greater challenge and
there is no greater honor
than to be in public service.

What I Stand For
Since entering politics, I have focused on key issues that drive me and where I strive to create meaningful change:
- Disability Rights – Fighting for better inclusion, accessibility, and support services
- Rural Ireland – Advocating for stronger communities and sustainable development
- Early Childhood Intervention – Ensuring every child gets the best start in life
- Healthcare Reform – Pushing for better services, access, and fairness
- Care of the Elderly – Supporting initiatives like the Fair Deal/Nursing Home Support Scheme
- Tourism & Agriculture – Boosting local economies and protecting livelihoods
- Social Justice – Championing equality, fairness, and opportunity for all
A Vision for Change
I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a stable, healthy income through dignified work. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, but there is always a solution—tailored, creative, and fit for purpose.
Beyond Politics
Outside of the Seanad, I cherish time with my family and my two King Charles spaniels, enjoy long forest walks, and embrace new adventures whenever I can.
One of my favorite rituals is walking the Salthill Promenade, looking out over Galway Bay, and taking part in the famous Galway tradition of giving the customary ‘kick to the wall’—a small but meaningful gesture of resilience and determination.
And, of course, I still firmly believe the world would be a better place if everyone spent at least 15 minutes a day in a hammock!
