Minister for Disabilities and Fianna Fáil TD for Galway East, Anne Rabbitte, has welcomed the funding allocated to three community-based organisations in Galway.
Brothers of Charity, Ability West and Ballinasloe Social Services have all received funding under the Mobility and Cancer Care Transport Measure of the CLÁR programme. The vehicles will be used to provide essential transport services for people with mobility issues.
Minister Rabbitte commented:
This is very welcome investment for essential services in Galway. The three of these groups do such important work, and that has been particularly clear over the past year in the battle against Covid. In my role as Minister for Disabilities, I know first-hand that organisations like Ability West, Brothers of Charity and Ballinasloe Social Services have been to the fore in supporting people with disabilities during this time.
All three organisations provide invaluable support to their communities and as we slowly return to normal, this funding ensures they can transport some of the most vulnerable people in our communities to the places they need to go. I don’t doubt this investment will greatly improve the quality of life for service users.
Such investment is also further recognition of the importance of rural Ireland to this government. We’ve seen major investment in Galway across departments in recent months and it’s a trend I’m sure we’ll see continue.
