Community, sports, arts, heritage, health, disability, environmental and other non-profit organisations will meet on the morning of November 8th in the Menlo Park Hotel to celebrate volunteering and find out more about the services that Galway Volunteer Centre offers to all groups.

The gathering, the first face to face networking meeting held by Galway Volunteer Centre since January 2020, is taking place to mark International Volunteer Managers Day.

This worldwide celebration recognises the hidden effort made by many in our community to recruit and look after volunteers who give so much.  None of this would happen without the volunteer managers and co-ordinators

according to Helen Ogbu, Organisation Support Officer with Galway Volunteer Centre.

A major part of the event will allow attendees to find out about the wide variety of services offered by Galway Volunteer Centre.

And Helen continued:

While well known for its volunteer recruitment service, the Centre has many other strings to its bow, including training, Garda Vetting and regular podcast.   ‘We do believe we have something for everyone, and we want to make sure that all the groups in the City and County are aware of the services and how they can benefit from them.

Since 2006, GVC has been helping members of the public to volunteer and helping community organisations to find volunteers, by providing a constantly updated list of volunteer roles on their website www.volunteergalway.ie.

The GVC team meets with people to help them choose volunteer roles that match their interests and availability.

The event takes place from 10am to 1pm and anyone interested in attending needs to register at https://bit.ly/connectgvc
