Minister of State in the Department of Health and Fianna Fáil TD for Galway East, Anne Rabbitte, has confirmed that the new Primary Care Centre for Gort has advanced to the next stage of the HSE’s development process.
Minister Rabbitte received an update from the HSE this week in relation to the Gort development, where a number of potentially suitable sites have been shortlisted.
Minister Rabbitte commented:
It’s great to see progress on the development of a new Primary Care Centre in Gort as it is long sought after and very much needed in not just the town itself but for South Galway. Previous efforts to develop a Primary Care Centre in Gort were not successful so it’s great to see positive developments this time around.
The HSE have confirmed to me that a schedule of accommodation needed for the proposed Primary Care Centre in Gort was completed in June, which will ensure people have access to modern facilities that cater to the varying needs of people in the area.
and she continued:
A number of potentially suitable sites have been shortlisted and I’m told that the HSE will now issue a request for priced offers and technical submissions. It’s expected this process will commence by the end of August.
This is obviously the first important step towards securing the development of the building in Gort and I will ensure to keep pressure on to get this project realised. I raised this with the previous Minister for Health while in Opposition so I’m glad to be able to play my part in advancing it while not only in Government but a Minister within the Department of Health as well,
